They say that our brains are as hard at work while dreaming as when awake. Apparently we're often puzzling out problems while we sleep (and thus sometimes wake up with a solution).

Well, I don't know what problem the old bean was working on last night, but I had a distinctive word revelation, and it definitely happened in my dream state. I had the startling revelation that the word "monopoly" is comprised of the prefixes "mono" and "poly"; thus, "a single entity comprising many or all".

I swear this came at me out of the blue, I hadn't consciously thought about this previously, and it occurred completely within the dream. Bizarre!

Now if I could just come up with the next big moneymaking scheme or Internet fad. Maybe tonight...

Let's get bloggy

Er, ahem... (tap, tap...) is this thing on?

Hello world!

Yes, it's true. I have finally jumped on board the Blogging Bandwagon. As with many other things that have revolutionized the Web, I held back longer than most. I had no need for such trendy tools. I don't need to share a diary with the world. (Or whatever portion of it would pay any attention.) I build websites from scratch - why, I've been doing it since the days when you had to type it all in by hand! No DreamWeaver, no GoLive, just SimpleText and your own two hands! Damn kids today, they have it easy.

So, yes, I scoffed.

But you know? It finally makes sense. Oh, I had my systems in place for updating my website, posting pictures, and everything. But it was tedious. Wait for GoLive to open up my gi-normous site file. Build a new page and link it all up. Download pics, build a photo gallery, save for web, make thumbnails, upload, yada yada.

I could do it. But I found, more and more, that I wasn't. It was just too tedious.

But I love to go to intriguing events... take interesting photos... and yes, occasionally, putting a few words together and sharing them with, if not the world, then at least my friends, family, and other folks I like to stay connected with. And with the tools now available, it can be a much simpler matter to actually do it.

It started with YouTube back in April of this year. It was SUCH an easy way to share a short video I'd shot - way easier than putting a big honkin' quicktime file on my site - and much more accessible for others! That was the tip of the iceberg, and now here I am - blogging. Yes, a real blgger-come-lately. But I'm ready to jump in and get it going. I've started rehearsals for Fiddler on the Roof, and have some great pics to share as well as a story or two. So.... let the blogging begin!
